The Two Oceans Aquarium, situated in the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town first opened in 1995. The Aquarium is currently Africa's largest underwater nature reserve where visitors can come face to face with a great diversity of marine creatures. The Theme of the "two oceans" is illustrated in a variety of spectacular exhibits throughout the aquarium.
They Range from a colorful display of Indian Ocean tropical finishes to the magnificent 800,000 litre kelp forest exhibit, which features a living kelp forest similar to that found in the Atlantic Ocean off the west coast of South Africa. The Two Oceans Aquarium opens a window on the ocean and offers unique opportunities for visitors to discover the mysteries of the underwater world. Come and see the penguin's turtle's rays and sharks being hand fed.
See Divers swimming freely with the ragged tooth sharks in the I&J predator Exhibit and watch the four cape fur seals frolicking above and below the water in the Alpha Activity Centre. You could visit the touch pool and touch prickly see urchin's spiny starfish, anemones and busy crabs.
You could even choose to stay for an overnight adventure and sleepover in the aquarium and have oceans of fun face painting puppet shows story telling arts and crafts and lots more! The Two Oceans Aquarium is a place for all ages and backgrounds to discover something new and wonderful about the two oceans surrounding the coast of South Africa.
